Friday, June 10, 2005 - The Court needs Guards!
Posted by QueenCate
Our good Captain Devereaux, commander of our royal guards, requests that we make it known that although our festival season has begun, we still have openings for a few excellent men to portray knights and personal guards to the crown.
Our audition process is simple and begins with a personal interview, takes applicants through some improv exercises, etc.
Interested individuals should live no further than 40 or so minutes from Des Moines, to allow convenience when attending our rehearsals.
Have Court, Will Travel has five library bookings yet this summer and anticipates appearing at at least ONE more renaissance faire this autumn. We will be the royal court at the permanent site of the Des Moines Renaissance Faire which will be open three weekends in September, beginning in 2006.
Interested parties should tour our website, www.havecourtwilltravel.com and then contact me via email, queencate@royalty.atthefaire.com
Wednesday, June 1, 2005 - "Reigning Over Des Moines"
Posted by QueenCate
A short report to say Have Court, Will Travel had a great time at the 2005 Des Moines Renaissance Faire & Coronation Pageant. With the resignation of our former King, the Queen was accompanied by her near cousin William Sydney, Duke of Somerset and by her children, Prince Henri & Princess Margaret, along with the riding court.
Des Moines patrons were able to enjoy the tunes of the royal trumpeters including a newly composed piece in honor of Princess Margaret (Darth Vader's theme)which set the opening gate crowds to laughing.
Our weaponry and royal hounds talks garnered very nice crowds each day, between 40 & 60 patrons each time. The Coronation Pageant saw over 80 audience members each day. Crowds at Saturday's and Monday's hounds talks were introduced to our new "baby" the nearly five month old Abby. (so cute!)
Photos will be online within the next couple of weeks and our library visits will be advertised soon, incase some of our fans would like another "court fix" this summer.
Thanks to everyone who made us feel welcome, played with us in the lanes, provided us with delicious food and drink and made us laugh. And special thanks to our youngest admirers; it's your love and admiration that makes this court "real".
